Latest
Sep 5, 2026The Character Consistency Update 🎯
- NEWA "Refine free" button on renders where the character came out inconsistent — no credits burned. When the tool notices a face landed off (drifted expression, wrong angle, no face at all in a close-up), you get one free re-roll so you never eat 8 credits for something we should've caught. One free refine per panel; a normal paid re-roll is always still there.
- IMPROVEDThe tool now silently catches and re-rolls the worst character drifts before you see them. Every render is scored against your trained character's face in the background; the truly bad ones get a fresh seed automatically. The render you actually see is closer to the character you trained.
- FIXEDPanels that got stuck in "Rendering…" after a network glitch now recover on reload — you'll see a Generate button instead of a forever spinner. Also, if a render fails for any reason (not just running out of credits), the panel now offers you a way to retry it instead of quietly stalling.
The Marketing Refresh 🎬
- NEWA refreshed marketing site — cleaner layout across every page, a proper look at what StoryboardAI actually produces from a brief, and copy pointed at the people who actually pay for pre-production.
The Style Overhaul 🎨
- NEWA second anime style — Modern Cinematic Anime. Think dusk-sky gradients, atmospheric depth, and the clean cel-shaded look of a modern anime film. It sits next to the existing Studio Ghibli slot in the style picker, so you can pick whichever anime tone your story needs.
- NEWA dedicated Manga style — publication-quality black-and-white Japanese seinen manga with dense hatching, screentones, and deep spot blacks. The same story you can render in anime you can now render as a manga page: character kept consistent across every panel.
- IMPROVEDPastel Watercolor got a full rebuild. It used to add watercolor edges around the frame while the subject in the middle stayed photoreal. Now the entire painting — sky, environment, and character — is rendered as a cinematic Shinkai-tier painterly watercolor with torn paper edges, atmospheric depth, and rich color gradients.
- IMPROVEDCharcoal Thriller Noir now stays true to charcoal. Boards used to occasionally flip a panel into full color; now every shot commits to the hand-drawn cream-paper look with smudged strokes, deep blacks, and torn edges. Reads as a real charcoal drawing, not a black-and-white photo.
- IMPROVEDRenamed Paper Stop Motion → Stop Motion Animation, so the label matches what it actually delivers: Laika-style claymation puppets with tactile fabric texture and miniature-set lighting (Coraline / Kubo / ParaNorman territory).
- IMPROVEDCharacters now hold their hairstyle across every panel of a board, not just their face. Boards used to occasionally flip between hair-down and hair-up between shots; the script writer now locks a fixed hairstyle up front and repeats it in every shot description — the same trick that already keeps wardrobe consistent.
The Small Screen Update 📱
- FIXEDThe Studio finally behaves on a phone. The sidebar used to sit on screen permanently and squeeze your board into a narrow column — now it slides in over the page when you tap the menu, and closes the moment you pick something. Your panels get the whole screen.
- FIXEDNew projects could start on an art style we retired a while back, which quietly pulled first renders away from the look you were expecting. Projects now start on Live-Action Film, and the Studio ignores any saved style that no longer exists.
- IMPROVEDThe “Best Value” badge on the pricing page now works out which pack is genuinely cheapest per credit — including while a bonus is running. It used to always point at the biggest pack, which isn’t true during the Founders promo.
The Pricing Clarity Update 💡
- FIXEDCredit costs now read the same everywhere. The homepage and the pricing page quietly disagreed about what a render costs — both now use the exact names you see in the Studio: Quick Draft, Final Render, and Ultra Cinematic. What you read is what you’ll be charged.
- IMPROVEDThe pricing page now lists every render engine, including Final Render — the one that puts your trained cast in the shot. It was the only cost we’d never published, which was a strange thing to leave out. There’s also a new FAQ covering what we get asked most: no, it isn’t a subscription; no, your credits don’t expire; and no, you don’t need a card to start.
- NEWThe Founders bonus is still running — now extended through the end of January. The first 50 buyers get bonus credits on every pack, and it’s still pay-once, with no subscription and nothing to cancel.
- NEWA new guide to anime storyboards — what makes an anime board different from a live-action one, and how to build a sequence where your character holds up from cut to cut.
The Founders Launch 🚀
- NEWWe’re officially live. 🎬 StoryboardAI leaves beta today — turn any idea or script into a character-consistent cinematic storyboard, then animate it into a video, in minutes.
- NEWA brand-new cinematic homepage — watch one trained character star across four different worlds (Western, jungle, cyberpunk, deep space) with the exact same face in every scene. That consistency is the whole point of StoryboardAI.
- NEWFounders Launch offer — no subscription, pay once. The first 50 buyers get bonus tokens (up to 2×) on every credit pack. Start free with 50 credits, no card required.
The Studio Flow Update 🎬
- NEWYour very first storyboard now comes out consistent — instantly. We automatically cast a free character as your lead, so the same face carries across every panel from the first render. No setup, no training, no waiting.
- NEWMeet the new Focus view: the shot you’re working on takes center stage, with a filmstrip of every panel below — click any shot to jump straight to it instead of scrolling. Prefer the classic stacked layout? Flip to List anytime.
- NEWExport your board straight into Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve as a ready-to-edit timeline — every shot already placed at its right duration. Find it as “Editing Timeline” in the Export menu.
- IMPROVEDTraining your own custom character is now an optional upgrade — start instantly with a free character and lock in your own whenever you’re ready.
- IMPROVEDTidier exports — Download Images, Storyboard PDF, Animatic, and Editing Timeline now live together in the board toolbar — and the Animate button sits right next to Re-roll on every shot.
The Unified Credits Update 💳
- IMPROVEDOne wallet for everything — scripts, panels, video, and character training now all spend from a single credit balance. No more separate AI-script tokens to keep track of.
- NEWSet exactly how many panels you want (4–20), and see the total credit cost before you generate — no surprises.
- IMPROVEDSimpler format names — Landscape, Portrait, and Square, with the aspect ratio right there if you need it.
- IMPROVEDStoryboards render noticeably faster — panels now generate in parallel instead of one at a time.
The Account Security Update 🔐
- NEWShow or hide your password as you type — just tap the eye icon on any password field.
- NEWA quick, mostly-invisible human check now guards sign-in and sign-up — keeping bots out and your free credits safe.
- IMPROVEDStoryboard links are now harder to guess, so your private pre-production stays yours.
- FIXEDOpening a storyboard that belongs to another account now quietly returns you to Home instead of showing a confusing error.
The AI Video Update 🎬
- NEWAnimate any panel into a short video clip — motion is generated from the panel itself, so your character stays perfectly consistent.
- NEWDirect the camera: choose moves like Dolly In, Over-the-Shoulder, Low Angle, or Bird’s Eye — or let ✨ Auto pick the right move for each shot from your script.
- NEWAnimate All — bring your whole storyboard to life in one click, with a coordinated camera sequence that varies across your shots.
- NEWExport a true animatic — your animated clips chained into one continuous video, each held to its scene length (not just a slideshow).
- IMPROVEDSharper, more intentional shot framing — panels now follow the camera direction described in your script instead of a generic default.
- FIXEDFixed a billing glitch where rendering could wrongly say “Out of Tokens” even with a full balance.
- IMPROVEDBehind-the-scenes security & reliability hardening to keep your account, credits, and private work protected.
The Private Studio Update 🔒
- NEWHome tab — jump back into recent projects, start a new one, or train a character, all from one place.
- NEWUpload Script mode — drop a .fountain, .fdx, .pdf, or .docx file and Claude converts it into storyboard shots automatically.
- IMPROVEDThe Studio is now accessible without signing in — explore the full interface before committing to an account.
- IMPROVEDGenerate buttons now say "Sign in to Generate" for guests instead of showing a red disabled state.
- IMPROVEDAll storyboards are private by default — your pre-production work stays yours.
The PDF Export Update 📄
- NEWExport your storyboard as a polished PDF — panels laid out in a clean grid on A4 pages, ready to share with a director, client, or your team.
- NEWPick your layout: 2 panels per row for a bigger, more detailed look, or 3 per row for the classic storyboard sheet feel.
- NEWOptionally include your full script as an extra page at the end of the PDF — everything in one file.
- NEWAnimatic exports now work on Safari — the downloaded video will play on all major browsers and devices.
- NEWThe Export menu now has two ready-to-use options: PDF and Animatic — with AI Video still on the way.
The Character Intelligence & Style Engine Update 🎭
- NEWAll 8 art styles now fully respect your trained character — the visual style no longer overrides who they are.
- NEWCharacters now remember their own appearance the moment you train them. No manual setup required.
- NEWHair color, eye color, and facial features stay locked across every panel in a storyboard.
- IMPROVEDYour cast now appears in every generated shot — no more panels missing your characters.
- IMPROVEDOpening a storyboard from the Vault now fully restores your art style and cast selection.
The Feedback & Performance Update 🛡️
- IMPROVEDThe feedback form now lets you attach a screenshot — your reports land straight with our team.
- FIXEDA bug where acting too fast could cause unexpected credit behaviour has been resolved.
